MisUnderstood – Chain Reaction Theatre Company

Chain Reaction Theatre Company

We were approached by Chain Reaction to write an urban track that used the thoughts and ideas of the young people attending the theatre company.

The members wrote about how they felt they were perceived by the media and press. - They wanted a positive track to show people that they weren’t what they are made out to be.

They they worked with a choreographer to create a dance, and recorded the vocals at Gascoigne Music Studio. This saw young people from across the borough come together to record the track. All of this footage was filmed to create a Music Video which the young people have named MISUNDERSTOOD.

Our music used for ToyTek’s youtube promotional video.

ToyTek used a track of ours called ‘Buh Bah’ for a promotional video of one of their products.

The track itself is a very popular track because of it’s quirky nature and we’ve had a lot of interest about it. Unfortunately through a few chains of bad luck the multitracks and original files for the track have been lost so without re-writing we can’t lengthen the track or edit it!

Short Film – Something Blue finished Shooting

leave a comment »

Something Blue

‘Something Blue’ the new short film we’re scoring is in the can.

Here’s the Directors vision for the film:

This 20 minute short juxtaposes the preparations for a big sister’s wedding, with a young boy’s struggle to claim his true identity.

With a very defined look and colour scheme, the film will have an ever changing mix between soft pinks and cold blues emphasising Charlie’s dream of womanhood in contrast to the bleak realities of life as a young boy.

Using reflective surfaces, taps, mirrors, windows, water, we are constantly reminded how important it is for the characters examine themselves and how they appear to the outside world. With constant referencing of gender stereotypes, Something Blue will heighten our sense of masculine and feminine whilst making us aware for some the world is not as simple as being pink or blue.

Through stunning cinematography and truthful and engaging performances Something Blue will be a moving and uplifting film that will make its audience reconsider its attitudes to things outside the accepted norms and rejoice in the beauty of a parent that loves its child unconditionally.

Directed by James Page – Self Help.

Late September 2009 and a small but dedicated crew descend upon Tamworth, in the heart of England. For three weekends the crew worked tirelessly, shooting at various locations around the area; the Castle Hotel, the local park, and a local builders merchants, BuildBase.

When James approached us about the music for ‘Self Help’ he described the film as being a balance between sad, funny and weird. He wanted the music to be slow , odd and eerie with a sad humour to it – something lofi and modern.

Working with World Music Artist Glenn Sharp

Dark Ethnic Underscore

Here’s the current incarnation of the track we’re working with Glenn on. It’s a production music track pitched at Documentary. It’s pretty dark with middle eastern influences.

There’s a mixture of pads and live instruments. We’ve already put in Ney Flutes , Crumhorns and large whistles – and Glenn is going to lay some Oud – an eastern style lute over the track.

Here’s Glenn’s Page:

Here’s what it’s sounding like so far:
